Escola Portuguesa Vasco da Gama
EPVdG — Preserving Language, Culture & Heritage Since the 1960s
About the School
The Escola Portuguesa Vasco da Gama has been serving the Portuguese community of Bridgeport since the mid-1960s. On March 30, 1981, the school was officially recognized and accredited by the Ministry of Education of Portugal — a designation designed under the Portuguese Constitution to serve the children of Portuguese immigrants.
Our teachers design lessons around a curriculum from the Instituto de Luís Camões, aligned with Portugal’s Department of Education. Classes feature verbal, written, and auditory lessons alongside a rich cultural component covering history, geography, and the arts.
